Laila Herron Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Beech Grove Takes The Win

Laila Herron collected three hits in four at-bats, as Beech Grove Middle School A Team defeated Decatur Central - 8th Grade 18-2 on Tuesday at Decatur Central. Herron singled in the first inning, doubled in the second inning, and doubled in the third inning. Beech Grove Middle jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Herron singled, scoring two runs, Bailie Harper tripled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Beech Grove scored eight runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Herron doubled, scoring one run, Harper was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored two runs, Payton Kelly drew a walk, scoring one run, Hayden Fanning doubled, scoring one run, Kaylie Campbell tripled, scoring one run, and Samarah Turner tripled, scoring one run. Beech Grove Middle A Team scored five runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. An error scored three runs, Campbell grounded out, scoring one run, and Turner singled, scoring one run. Sage Yeary earned the win for Beech Grove Middle A Team. The starter gave up five hits and two runs over three innings, striking out four and walking none. Beech Grove Middle A Team piled up 10 hits in the game. Fanning, Campbell, and Turner each collected multiple hits for Beech Grove. Leigha Worthington stole three bases. Beech Grove had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. Beech Grove Middle A Team will travel to Franklin Central Flashes - 8th Grade for their next game on Wednesday.
